Wedding photography location in Salina, Sicily

Destination wedding in Salina

Green, quiet and covered in caper flowers and Malvasia vines.

Region

Aeolian Islands

Best months

June and September. The caper flowers open in late May and June, which is spectacular for outdoor ceremonies.

Getting there

Hydrofoil from Milazzo or connection via Lipari. The island is small and roads are narrow, so transport is by minibus. Guest numbers are naturally limited by accommodation, which keeps weddings here intimate.

Getting married in Salina

Salina is the green island of the Aeolians: two extinct volcanic cones, terraced vineyards of Malvasia, caper fields and small harbours. It is calmer and more elegant than Lipari, and it has become the favourite Aeolian island for intimate destination weddings.

The image people remember is Pollara, the collapsed crater with a beach at the bottom where Il Postino was filmed, glowing orange in the last twenty minutes of light.

Frequently asked questions

How many guests fit on Salina?

Typically thirty to seventy. The island's charm is exactly that it cannot host a large crowd.

Is Pollara accessible with a wedding dress?

The cliff terraces above the beach are easy; going down to the water requires a steep path, so we plan it only if you want it.
