Destination wedding in Favignana

Tuff quarries, turquoise coves and an island that feels like a secret.

Region

Egadi Islands

Best months

June, September and early October. August is fully booked months ahead and the coves are crowded.

Getting there

Hydrofoil from Trapani, itself twenty minutes from Birgi airport. Cars are restricted in summer; guests move by bike, scooter or electric shuttle. Everything — flowers, catering, equipment — arrives by ferry, so timelines must be conservative.

Getting married in Favignana

Favignana is the largest of the Egadi Islands, twenty five minutes by hydrofoil from Trapani. Its coast is carved into old tuff quarries that drop straight into water so clear it reads almost white in photographs, and the interior is flat, dry and covered in low walls of the same golden stone.

It is the right choice for a small, barefoot destination wedding: an intimate group, boats instead of cars, and a session at Cala Rossa or Bue Marino where the geometry of the quarries frames the couple.

Venues and locations I use in Favignana

  • Ex Stabilimento Florio — the monumental former tuna factory, now an event and museum space
  • Cala Rossa and Bue Marino quarries for the couple session
  • Private villas and small boutique hotels across the island
  • Boat ceremonies and receptions on chartered gullets
  • Levanzo, twenty minutes away by boat, for a next-day session

How many guests can Favignana handle?

Realistically up to about eighty. Beyond that, accommodation and ferry logistics become the limiting factor.

Is a legal ceremony possible on the island?

Yes, the Comune di Favignana celebrates civil weddings, including in some outdoor licensed locations.
